The Standard Operating Procedures Manual is a how-to guide explaining the entire special education referral, evaluation, and placement process in New York City.
The NYC DOE Protocols for SPED in Charter Schools were developed by the Office of Legal Services, the Office of New Schools and the Office of Special Education Initiatives. The procedures constitute the Department of Education’s policy and protocols for the provision of special education services to New York City resident students suspected of or identified with a disability who attend a charter school.
The Parent's Guide to Special Education explains the procedures for evaluation and placement of students with disabilities, and emphasizes the due process rights for parents.
