For High Schools looking to order diplomas, please note that charter schools do not use the NYC DOE diploma.
Since the State does not require a particular format, high schools have some options:
- Order the blank sample attached from the state (only available when ordering Regents exams following the directions below)
- Create/Order your own (two DOE examples are attached – one that follows the state version and one that is much simpler)
While The State Ed Department does provide diploma blanks (upon request), they do not provide seals. Schools are free to obtain seals, along with customized diploma blanks, from vendors of their choosing.
The SED provided the following guidance in the Issuance of Regents Diplomas by Schools:
Issuance by Schools of Regents Diplomas
A Regents diploma may be awarded in recognition of a student’s passing with a score of 65 or higher on the Regents Exams specified by the Board of Regents (http://www.p12.nysed.gov/ciai/gradreq/intro.html). Eligibility for the Regents diploma endorsement will be determined by the principal on the basis of the student’s record. The following is a sample Regents endorsement:
Diploma issued with the endorsement of the
BOARD OF REGENTS
on the basis of successful completion of
Regents Examinations
Most companies that print high school diplomas provide seals indicating Regents endorsement that may be affixed to the diplomas of eligible students. Schools may issue, if they prefer, a separate Regents-endorsed diploma. Regents diploma blanks are furnished by the Department to registered high schools that request them as part of their online examination request for January or June secondary-level exams.” (see page 6-1, http://www.p12.nysed.gov/assessment/sam/secondary/section6-15.pdf)
